Patch 1.5.0.11 is out

Following today’s maintenance we learn that a new patch has been applied to the servers. The patch brings more restrictions to low level players with hopes of suppressing spam by Kinah sellers. They will have to work harder now to be able to advertise. Also, several language corrections have been applied. Jasdemi, in his blog, covers all of the changes much better than we could, but we have the changes posted on our patch notes page.

Tuesday funnies and some grind tips

grind1

I am not a fan of large gaming network sites. They tend to be to impersonal. They tend to put their heart into the game only if its very successful and pays them big bucks. You can see bursts of activity on a particular subject when most advertisement bucks are spent and then everything seems to quiet down. There are, however, some high quality writers engaged in this process and they write for only the biggest networks out there. Great writers = great articles. I came across two very fun articles at MMORPG.ocm and TenTonHammer.com that every Aion player should read in their spare time.

MMORPG.com Aion correspondent, Joshua Price, writes a list of 8 interesting ways to kill another player in the game’s PvP combat. With sentences like:

Aion Chat Spam Filter

spam

A few days ago Aion was updated to version 1.5.0.10. There aren’t many changes but the most important one is update of the Chat Spam Filter.

How does it work?

Aion team is updating the Chat Spam Filter constantly and every time you launch the game it’ll patch in the background. The downside to this is that the longer you stay in the game the greater the risk is that you’ll see variations of RMT sites popping up, since the filter might become out of date. It means you don’t get the latest version of the filter in real time while you are playing.

Aion recent bannings

We wrote about recent Aion massive gold sellers banning, but unfortunately some players have been affected as well. If you found yourself unable to log and you are 100% sure you have not been involved with any activity that would violate Aion User Agreement (never botted, buy or sell gold, never powerleveled, changed files), then you should contact Aion Customer Support team at Support | NCsoft who will be able to look into your case.

  1. Playing behind a proxy/ping modifier service (generally where an ip range has been banned)
Playing behind a proxy in itself is not against the User Agreement and would not be a basis for ban.
  2. Playing for too long at a time.
This would not be basis for ban as it is not against the User Agreement either.
  3. Changing the .bin to .exe on the Aion.bin file.
Changing the language pack to something other than the original language.
These two items are technically violating the User Agreement, but when account suspension happens we generally look at a much wider array of variables.

I strongly suggest that you wait for a reply from Customer Support to find out exactly what was the reason in your case — and perhaps a review might reveal that the banning was wrongful.

Banhammer lands on Aion gold sellers

Ban Hammer This Friday evening and most of Saturday NCSoft’s GM teams have been banning massive amounts of accounts that were promoting Kinah selling or other services that broke the game’s Terms and Conditions. Gold spamming in game has reduced severely, but some players have been affected by the banhammer as well and we are waiting to see to what extent has this affected the legitimate players out there. What is also noticeable is that queues on all servers are almost non existant. Whether this is something related to removing bots and goldspammers from the game or has the initial rush finally slowed down remains to be seen. I seriously doubt that it was the bots/goldspammers alone though, because that would mean that 10-20% of the game’s population were gold sellers (that’s how big the queues were). There are also reports that players that were in contact with gold sellers have also been banned and that you wil not be able to connect to the game if you are using a proxy service.

A great image displaying GMs at work has been posted @ Aionic Thoughts and you can read their post about the issue as well here.

Prior to the massive banning 10 NA servers have had their character creation temporarily disabled. The official news is here and the servers are:

[Oceanic] Nezekan
[East] Marchutan
[West] Ariel
[East] Israphel
[East] Lumiel
[West] Siel
[East] Zikel
[East] Azphel
[East] Triniel
[West] Vaizel
