Important news for CB participants

All the Aion Closed Beta participants that created their account prior to July 29, 2009 you need to update your NCSoft Aion account right away. NCSoft changed their account system on that day to accommodate for the upcoming live release of the game and you need to take the following action to update your account (we’re gonna do this like we do our quest walkthroughs – with steps and screenshots 🙂 ).

Aion OB patch and full client download links (updated)

The floodgates are open and you can start pre-downloading your open beta Aion client right away. If you already have the Closed Beta client you can find the patch on Fileplanet and this should bring your client up to Open Beta readiness ( sexiness? ).

(update) I did this and it works – the actual patching will commence on August 31. (that’s the message I got from the patcher once it completed everything). A torrent download file has also been provided by the Aion team and if you prefer that over Fileplanet this is the link

Aion Open Beta details announced

After several days of teasing Aion community managers finally announced the details of the Open Beta and pre-select and headstart programs.

Open beta will take place September 6-13th and will include patch 1.5 changes along with many Western changes like:

  • character customization with a host of Western styles
  • new zones
  • new instances
  • new skills
  • new quests

Aion Open Beta hints and Guild Wars special (updated)

In the meantime … Guild Wars web page announced a special gift for all Guild Wars players that purchased Aion Collector’s Edition – special in-game emote that will make your avatar spread their Aion wings. UPDATE: We have added the video of the effect that surfaced on mmorpg.com.

Aion Lead Designer Interview

Aion Lead Designer Yongchan Jee gave an interview at GamesCom 09 Aion stage, answering community questions delivered by Lani Blazier. Lani has been gathering the questions through social networking sites like Twitter (her account is aion_liv and you can follow her to deliver your questions or follow up to date news) and the whole Aion team has been very active getting in touch directly with the community and delivering news through various channels (live video streams on facebook and justin.tv just to mention a few).

The interview has been very informative as well, bringing a lot of new information directly from the core developer team member. There has been mention of low level instances, playing as Balaur, legion housing and other topics. Mr. Jee was very charming and I recommend you watch the video – its worth the time :).

Aion Stigma System and Stones

The Stigma System

The Stigma system is in a form of a skill slot tree that allows the players to further customize their characters. In this way the players of the same class have different abilities that can not be learn from books. In the appropriate capital city for each race you can locate a Stigma Master:
Miriya– Sanctum – Elysean Stigma Master;
Aud – Pandaemonium – Asmodian Stigma Master.

While some of these stones are readily available, others can be very rare and therefore prestigious. The number of Stigma Stones you can equip depends on the level of your character.

Aion Cleric Class Screenshots

NCsoft has revealed a new selection of screenshots for Aion Cleric Class. On the screenshots you can discover the Cleric class specialization. The Cleric is a Priest subclass who follows the Star of Healing. It uses magic power to strengthen the body and to heal injuries. It can also restore life by using a revival spell when a Daeva’s soul and body are separated. In addition to supporting its allies, it is also capable of wielding a mace and shield when a melee battle occurs.

Flying and Gliding in Aion

Introduction

When you hit level 10 you will receive your wings. Your ability to fly will be indicated by your Flight Meter, which will light up when you enter a flight zone. Flight is limited to 60 seconds, but can be increased with various armor, titles, and other items in-game. Your Flight Meter is located at the bottom of your screen to the left of your Mini-Map and will give you all of the information you need to know about controls and limitations. You can begin flying by either using the Page Up button or clicking on your Flight Meter.
